Is there a place where I can compare real estate agents to determine which would be the best for me?

Yes! Most agents in the area are ranked by past clients through the QSC system (Quality Service Certification). There you can browse through local agents to see what types of clients they have worked with, what their clients have said about working with them, and their overall QSC score.

When do I need a building permit?

Most municipalities require a building permit for a large variety of renovations and projects, regardless of whether you're planning to hire someone to do the work or you plan to do the work yourself. The permit must be acquired before you start any work. Some of these projects include:

  • Adding a shed, garage or gazebo
  • Repairing your home's foundation

What is the difference between a real estate agent and a real estate broker?

A real estate broker has taken extra licensing education beyond the real estate agent level and passed a broker license exam. This person now has the ability to work alone or hire others to work under them. Whereas, a real estate agent has passed a real estate license exam and hasto work under a broker either at the organization level or individual level.
